"extension" and "suspension" letters for contracts

We are 6 weeks into the strike by members of the Writers Guild of America, East and Writers Guild of America, West against members of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.


This week I have received multiple "extension" letters for contracts related to productions my clients have in development with major studios and networks. Specifically, the letters inform my clients that the length of time for the parties to fulfill the terms of the contract will be extended once the events of force majeure have ended. Here, the event of force majeure is the above mentioned writers' strike.
